About Frederick County Women in Trades

Frederick County Women in Trades (FredCo WIT) is a collaborative initiative established in 2022 to promote and support women's participation in the trades within Frederick County, Maryland. We work with women and girls of all ages—explorers, students, and those seeking a career change—to empower them in pursuing opportunities in the trades.

This partnership brings together representatives from the local construction industry, the Career and Technology Center (CTC), and Frederick Community College (FCC) to educate, encourage, and provide resources for women exploring careers in construction.

As an all-volunteer organization driven by a shared passion for creating opportunities for women, FredCo WIT is dedicated to fostering collaboration between industry and education. Our goal is to build pathways for women to achieve personal and professional success in the trades, contributing to a more diverse and inclusive workforce in Frederick County.

What We Do

  • Offer exposure opportunities at local middle and high schools to introduce students to careers in the trades.

  • Partner with school administrators to develop recruitment and retention strategies for female students in trade programs.

  • Host networking events that allow women in the trades to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.

  • Collaborate with employers to ensure workplaces are female-friendly and welcoming to women in the trades.

  • And more!

By creating these connections and opportunities, FredCo WIT is building a brighter future for women in the trades and a stronger, more inclusive workforce for Frederick County.
